THE GIANT TRANSFORMERS FAQ PAGE

Welcome to my "Giant Transformers Frequently Asked Questions" Page. Through the course of this sites history many people have asked questions about various Giant Transformers and aspects of them. Through this page I will attempt to answer those questions as well as any new ones that may come up in the future. For now though, Enjoy!

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE WHO HELPED ME ATTAIN INFORMATION AND PICTURES ABOUT TRANSFORMERS: OPERATION COMBINATION,

1. WHY DID I CREATE THIS PAGE?
--Ever since I first started getting into the Transformers Genre' I was always impressed with the largest and strongest of the robots. I believe that this stems from my love of other Japanese Sci-Fi categories such as Godzilla and other Giant Monsters as well as any Anime/Manga series that had to do with giant machines or robots. To this day I am still impressed with the biggest and strongest of the Transformers. When I first created this page there were already over 300 TF sites that I knew of! I was in fear that this was going to be a page that someone had already done. To my surprise, it has been the only page thus far dedicated to the Giant Transformers and I appreciate all your comments on it's originality. I know that there are several sites, which by far outshine mine but I look forward to the time when someone else who's interest matches mine can develop a better site for the Giant Transformers, they certainly deserve it!

2. WHAT IS A GESTALT?
--The Random House Dictionary defines Gestalt as: 1. A unified whole; a configuration, pattern, or organized field having specific properties that cannot be derived from the summation of its component parts. 2. An instance or example of such a unified whole.
Basically in the Transformers Universe a Gestalt is the proper term for any robot composed of 3 or more individuals. The reason I say "3 or more" is because there are many examples of robots that are 2-in-1's, but they do not really meet Gestalt status. Basically a Gestalt is a super-robot whose members when aligned are far more powerful than when they are separate. For Example "Piranacon" who is the combined form of the "Seacons" is far more powerful than the 6 individual Seacons. In fact it usually takes a small army of Transformers to slow down any Gestalt, or of course another Gestalt of equal or greater strength.

3. HOW MANY GESTALTS WERE THERE?
--Throughout The Entire 15 year history of the Transformers there have been Many Gestalt Warriors. I will attempt to name them all & their members here. If I am missing any, please feel free to let me know.

4. HOW POWERFUL ARE GESTALTS?/ ARE THEY ALIVE?
--A Gestalts power is a reflection of the best/worst qualities of its members. A warrior such as Superion will do relatively well since all the Aerialbots work well as a team. The Predacons, which seem to disagree, may not fare as well even though Predaking posses immense power. Although Gestalts do have voices, they are not "Alive" as it were. The consciousness of Devastator does not exist separately from the constructicons, rather the voice is a reflection of the combined thoughts of all the Gestalts members. Although the Gestalts are truly powerful it seems that most of them are equipped with a "deactivation" mechanism of some sort. It is assumed that any Gestalt's members cannot remain in their combined form for a great duration of time or else they may suffer severe system malfunctions at times causing insanity and a "Berserker " like attitude. Smaller Transformers needed to ensure that they could be stopped in case this ever happened. This was a wise decision, for if a Gestalt ever went insane it would be almost unstoppable and would result in the deaths' of many transformers, as well as the members of the Gestalt team.

5. ARE THE HEADMASTERS SUCH AS FORTRESS MAXIMUS/SCORPONOK ALIVE?
--This question has been the topic of debate on many sites and unfortunately there is no easy answer. It all just depends on what continuity you follow most closely. In the comics series, both FM(Fortress Maximus abbr.) and Scorponok were alive, Cerebros who was also part of FM also had his own consciousness. When the Headmasters binary-bonded with Nebulons, they fought together but each one retained it's own consciousness. Thus When FM fought, he also was being guided by Cerebros as well as Prince Galen (later Spike Witwicky). Lord Zarak also guided Scorponok. In the American cartoon the same was the case for all the smaller Headmasters but Scorponok/FM were different cases. Even though they both spoke lines, this was a representation of their consciousnesses. Lord Zarak built Scorponok from the HIVE City on Nebulos. Thus it was NOT alive. Spike and Cerebros built FM from the old HIVE City on Nebulos. Thus FM's voice is a combination of Spike and Cerebros' minds working as one. Thirdly and finally in the Japanese cartoon there was no Nebulon/Human bonding. All of the smaller robots heads' were really the size of the robots. When they formed the heads, these new bodies served as giant "Battle Armor" as it were. The same was the case of Scorponok (Lord Zarak) and Fortress (Cerebros). They formed the heads of, and controlled the Larger Robots- Megazarak (Scorponok) and Fortress Maximus. So the answer is- YES, NO, and, NO.

6.WHO IS THE LARGEST TRANSFORMER?
--Many have asked this question and the answer is pretty obvious that both Unicron and Primus hold that title. But I'm sure that most people disregard these two so I will also for the purpose of this question. In the realm of Autobots/Decepticons the largest of these would be Fortress Maximus for the Autobots and Scorponok for the Decepticons. Many of you may be wondering about Metroplex and Trypticon. Well it is true that these two were very large, but not quite as large as FM, and Scorponok. Remember that Metroplex was NOT the entire Autobot city, merely a part of it. (Contrary to the toy commercials claim) In the Japanese Headmasters Cartoon, there were a few occasions where FM and Metroplex were in the same scene. FM was clearly the larger robot. So there you have it. Scorponok for the Decepticons, and Fortress Maximus for the Autobots.

7.WHAT IS A TRANSECTOR (TRANS-SECTOR)?
--I feel obligated to add this question to the FAQ because it is one that I had pondered after hearing the word several times in the Japanese Transformers episodes. As it turns out, a Transector (spelled 2 different ways) is-a Transformer body that has no life (laser core, spark etc.) of it's own and is usually operated/inhabited by a smaller Transformer or an organic being (humans, nebulans). The first "Transectors" were the Headmasters (in the Japanese continuity only because in the American version both TF body & pilot shared a symbiotic existence). Later examples of Transectors were the Japanese Powermasters (Known as "Godmasters")-These were humans bestowed with the "gift" of operating a Transector. And the Japanese Autobot "Brainmasters"-These were smaller Autobots who fit into the bodies of larger robots.

8.WHO IS THIS GUY???

--A great question, one that I would not have been able to answer a year ago, other than the obvious similarity to Metroplex. This Decepticon(Destron) is named MetroTitan, and yes he is a remold of Metroplex. Metrotitan first appeared in the pages of the Transformers:Zone magazine after the pilot episode aired. Apparently he is a "Zombified" version of the original Metroplex although details are vague as to how the Voilenjiger could have turned Metroplex evil, or resurrected him from the dead. (Last I knew he was alive??). This was the only Large Destron toy produced from the Zone series and is highly sought after.

9.WHAT? MORE NEW GESTALTS??
